Any up to date info on this Stretch guys cant find much online. Other than the odd report of good catches of silvers from the 1st few pegs by the bridge. Does anyone know if there are many Bream present and if in any number also does the Trent here have much tow on it and is there much depth? Thanks Pitchisshifter

Re: Trent @ HandsacreHandsacre is best fished in autumn and winter. Roach, perch, chub are plentiful once you have got them feeding, any bait will work, maggots, meat, bread etc.

Re: Trent @ HandsacreJohnny, myself and two mates spent some time at Handsacre fishing for chub around eighteen years ago. I never caught a barbel but my mates had two at 8.8 and 9.8.

Re: Trent @ HandsacrePitchisshifter If you fish it mate or anyone else for that matter can you post up how you got on. I fished it last summer peg right under the cables good flow nice depth fished hemp caster maggot and basically caught near to F*** ALL. River looked spot on as well seems to shallow up towards the far bank all the depth is between 2 and 13mt out.

Re: Trent @ HandsacreI have fished the Upper Trent, but a good distance further down, just chub though, it's very weedy, and bloody hard going to be honest. I know of a 16 further down from Handsacre this season, but they are few and far between i think. For now, I think ill stick to my usual Lower Sev and Avon.

Re: Trent @ HandsacreYou're right about the Upper Trent being tough going for barbel Jonny. I have spent a lot of time on there for several years and it seems to be getting harder each season, but there are some good fish to be had.

Re: Trent @ HandsacreI blanked I am afraid to say very tough going, was very cold the night before and a few pegs the margins had iced over so not ideal ! I did not fancy sitting under the cables so fished down at the bottom end where the water comes in either side, this was my 1st mistake as they opened up fairly often letting in even more cold water. Its also filthy down there this maybe because of recent flooding but bottles and general shit everywhere it was not a nice place to spend the day to be honest. I fished for anything that swam but no sign of fish. Fished bread on the pole at 5m, Worm and caster @ 11m also chucked a maggot feeder and sat out the last few hours but nothing. Not sure ill rush back

Re: Trent @ HandsacreNice one thanks for the update sounds like you had a worse day than me. So much for it being a great winter venue. Seems all the best water on the Trent is around the Burton area.

Re: Trent @ HandsacreI'd say the best Trent stretches are further downstream.
