Hi all,
I am the Bailiff that dose the Underdale fishery in Shrewsbury, I know it needs work on it but I am thinking of doing some fish in on this water to try and get more Anglers to come and fish it.
So I am just asking members off the BAA if anyone of you would come on one if I was to make one up, as a day out. and maybe make one as a contest for the biggest fish of the day so may be cost £10.00 on the day and the biggest fish takes the lot on the day.
so your thought's please or how many of you would like me to short one out ?

im sure your intensions are meant well trying to commercialise underdale .
but some how feel your efforts would be better directed towards muddy holes in the ground , were I feel commercialism belongs , an should stay .

Hi Ian sorry you think like that but all I am asking if anyone would come or like me to do a fish in for members to come to and may be get to known each other and just try to have a day out and that's all. NOTHING to do whit trying to make it as a muddy pool its a river and we all have the right to fish on it. I am just trying to do a good thing for fishing and for the members sorry I even tried to do anything

Dale unfortunately this the attitude from some people.It's disappointing when it's obvious to most that you are clearly trying to do a good thing by bringing members together for a day out.Anyone would think you had suggested putting a cafe and tackle shop on there!

Hi Stew I know that I just think that we all need to stand together, After reading all that as been said about us Bailiffs it dose my head in because I am not trying to make Underdale in to anything but a good safe place for who ever would like to fish it and that's all.
I am just trying to do a good thing for BAA members and that's all but I cant stand when people try to put there say in and try to put people off, they all go on that the BAA do not think about Barbel Anglers so I think of just trying to do stuff on the waters I look after for the BAA, as I cant do anything like I would like to do but all I am doing is trying to give us bailiffs a good name and try to do stuff to make my waters to get fished on by who ever would like to fish it.
So I come up whit this idea to try and have a day out for Barbel Anglers but just get put down and that is so wrong because we need to be together to get anything done, but the ones that don't what anything to do whit it have to try and kill a good thing that someone is trying to do for the good for fishing. Because we all love are sport and I just think thing need to happen for the good of Anglers as that's it thank you Stew for standing up for me as we just try to do are best for the members.

So Stew now wants a cafe, tackle shop, and possibly a toilet block too on the wonderful River Severn?
Why don't we just electro fish it and transfer all the Barbel to a pig hole?

Hi Dale, well done for trying to make things happen. You show admirable initiative and a desire to improve the waters you are responsible for.
I can understand the attitude of those who already fish Underdale and view it almost as their own private water but at the end of the day it is a BAA water and all members have a right to fish it.

sorry all its just that commercialism is just not for me .
I believe in leaving things natural , not posting what I catch for others to follow , then the crowds will descend , then when you want to go fishing no pegs available , does this make sense ?
I will hazard a guess that dale is a good man with good intensions , but also probably retired , an is doing all this because has lots time on hands .
only my opion leave things be , don't advertise nothing , keep eyes open an mouth shut , as a specimen angler this is my mind set , more anglers brings more pressure on fish , constant repeat captures eventually brings fish scared to pick a bait up , harder to catch , an ultimately fish deaths .
dale have ask for yourself , do you consider fish welfare foremost .
the ill informed don't even rest barbel before returning , I always have bootlace tied to landing net handle leave barbel in water for min of 5 mins , tie handle to bankstick . then release barbel back into current when fully recovered .

I don't really understand one bit what 'the bailiff' is trying to do here? Is it that he dislikes the fact that a few dedicated Barbel anglers frequent that stretch? And does he have a problem with that?
Sure a fish in is a good excuse for a get to-gether, and so are matches, don't think most other anglers are of that mindset, getting away from crowds is a priority for some.
And Dave calling someone a 'bro' for insulting a fellow member (Ian) is beyond my comprehension as to what an official of BAA should do, you may not agree with him but he has a right to express his views, in fact that post that you supported should have been sanctioned, not applauded, after all you are wanting all peace and love here No?
So please don't make a suggestion and then fell hurt if everyone doesn't agree, it's a democratic club the BAA, and that includes you Stu, show some respect, or give up the job to someone more suited.

What you've just criticised Dale for is exactly what you do on every post when someone questions your repeated criticism.Someone gives you some back and you don't like it!As for you suggesting to have some respect I think you should be taking your own advice on that.The bloke was just trying to do something good and you just shoot him down,pathetic really.No wonder you always fish on your own as I'd imagine anyone would want to throw themselves in after spending ten minutes with you!

You cannot resit the abuse can you? Far from helping the situation, and the thread to flow you have to resort to abuse, I was merely trying to add some humour and goodwill, instead you ignore that post and you are not even big enough to admit it passed you by.
Stop meddling with these sort of threads by making thinly disguised threats, keep a lid on all that pent up aggression and LISTEN and perhaps take on board some other points that don't always match yours, you are an official of the BAA can I suggest you act like one and not someone who is craving a punch up?
