Not fished the Avon for a while, but i did last night, low and clear, but managed this fish at dusk. She was 11.14.

Re: An Avon double

Great fish once again Mr Care, How much time do you spend on the bank out of interest & when will the Avon get some colour in it seems to have been gin clear all year!

Went over to Northwood on Thursday after watching your video, it was tough going but had a small Barbel early on and packed up before the action would have began as I could not get any wetter unless I jumped in grin. I seem to be getting addicted to these Barbel................

Re: An Avon double

The answer is a LOT!! Three times a week I'm usually out, more so if I'm off work. This fish came off the back of EIGHT consecutive barbel blanks, mostly Severn sessions with a couple of Upper Trent ones thrown in. I've managed a couple of 10s on the Lower Severn, but this season really has been tough going, the extra water in the Severn last week seemed to switch it off completely, it looked perfect but was crap!

Yes mate, I use a Sony camera on a little tripod, got an app on my phone which controls the camera with a timer, works, but can be a bit fiddly with wet hands etc.

Re: An Avon double

Congratulations John, on a great capture, and for your patience through so many blanks and the rain too!
Hope you find an even bigger specimen. The Avon was OK yesterday with the extra water and warm weather, and the fish are getting fatter!
