Agree. It's dangerous. Part is ready to collapse. Could have serious consequences if it finally does if someone crossing at the time. Whole thing needs replacing with plastic instead of wood and a bit wider too.

Re Cooking Barbel. Reason why you wont see any recipes is they taste disgusting, lol. Some old fishing books suggest they are poisonous to eat. Also Roach are not edible due to lots of small bones. Chub also horrible to eat.

Been a few decades since I fly fished the Teme. But one fly I found particularly successful back then was the wet fly, March Brown silver. Worth a try today.

The R Tame, not the Teme, used to be a prime trout river in the 19th century before polution ruined it. Maybe one day trout will swim in the river again. Nice to see fish of any description in it today. Was totally devoid of any fish 30 plus years ago and stunk to high heaven.
