Mike and Ann Wood Fishing Report Upper Severn Powys

Lovely start to April weather and river levels excellent. Going in to second week levels average to low, Levels for April ranging from .193m at Aberbechan Penarth to .725m at Poolquay so levels very low for time of year ,Well done to the anglers who followed the fishing report in March for the new game  trout and salmon season there have been a lot of game anglers on the Upper Severn with Aberbechan /Penarth /Abermule / Forden being the hot spots with the fly anglers we have had good catches of brown trout grayling chub on fly to the 1.5lb mark but the fishery what has produced some stunning catches is Forden with excellent Grayling to 1.5lb brown trout to 2lb chub to 4lb and yes barbel to 6lb all on fly and nimpth Tacticts absolutely cracking start to the game season on the upper severn with a couple of salmon being caught and returned safely .coming to the last week of April water levels still dropping extremely low now at Aberbechan/Penarth we can do with some much needed rain to bring levels back to normal its good to see so many anglers about and enjoying the fishing on the upper severn tight lines for May and keep safe every one Mike and Ann Wood Upper Severn area Bailiffs.
