Walcot Lake is still badly weeded but there are some clear areas and there are some beautiful fish to be caught. You will need a weed rake and half an hour or so to clear a swim. Look for areas already open and enlarge them with a rake and put some feed in, let the swim settle whilst you tackle up. Last Monday I had three slabs all 6 -7lbs. and a handful of hybrids, roach and perch. Don't be tempted to fish light, you don't need to and if you hook one of the elusive tench (the intended quarry) you'll probably get broken. Strawberry flavoured corn and red maggot on a small waggler rig at about 18metres was the successful method. The more people come and make the effort and fish, the better it will get, it's worth the journey to fish for wild fish in natural surroundings.
