Does anyone know what is going on at Arley right bank re parking .? The gate is continually left open the BAA sign has been turned around so you cannot see it and on the back someone has written parking £3 per day.The gate is open onto the meadow with another sign stating you can now park on the bank but will be charged for it. Is the BAA aware of this and what is actually going on ?

Re: Parking Arley right bankIts been a couple of years now since this happened, but I visited and parked bankside in the first meadow and was charged. The guy, presumably owner/farmer said its free to park in the car park where the hut was for BAA members, but if you drive into the meadow he charges. No idea if he was correct.

Re: Parking Arley right bankIt's the farmer's land, he can do what he wants I guess as long as he honours the original agreement, which I suspect is free parking in the car park. Its £3 for pub/general visitors. Bit cheeky of him to use our sign to write on, but then I guess anglers probably leave rubbish on his land and all sorts, so not exactly a major issue in the grand scheme of things.

Re: Parking Arley right bankYeah I suppose it is, especially if you've not been before. He may have used our sign, in part, because it looked to the public like a private car park, and maybe lost him some revenue. Could maybe do with one of each.

Re: Parking Arley right bankLast time I fished RB was about 3 years ago, I believe the parking is free in the BAA section of the car park but a £3 charge was applied then to park in the field alongside the river. If I remember correctly the gentleman who sat on the gate taking money was a BAA bailiff as he asked to check my membership on entry to save him walking to me when fishing to check.

Re: Parking Arley right bankThe BAS page for Arley RB states the parking is accessed through a locked gate. Free parking for BAA members. And be sure to close the gate and scramble the code ! Needs sorting one way or the other.

Re: Parking Arley right bankSure it was a bailiff Paul? The riparian land owner has the right to check your card too, as if you're not a member you're trespassing on his land. Also what business does the bailiff have collecting fees on behalf of the farmer- or stealing his income? Would be a very naughty bailiff, who have no need to ever take money from a member.

Re: Parking Arley right bankI think there’s a bit of confusion here. The farmer Mark is actually one of our bailiffs and he shouldn’t charge members to park in the first car park but he does charge members of the public to park there.Even if you are a member he has started charging a pound I believe to drive across and park on the field.
