I sounded the alarm about otters at retreat last winter, but I've just read the post in the "Tench pools" thread.
This is a worry as my dad has said he fancies a go there, and I don't fancy a wasted trip.
Is it really that bad now?

More than 400 views and no replies. Either everyone has given it up as a fishless wasteland or they are keeping quiet about their catches.

Hi Guys
I started a thread round about last summer time about the otters on there. Didn't really have many replies. I think there are a couple of matches on there shortly so will be interesting if they comment on the match reports, if they indeed catch anything at all.
If anyone was to catch an otter on rod and line would they get to count it!!!!!!

Afternoon All,
I've fished Pool 2 and caught both times in the last few weeks on pole fished 4mm expanders and it appears to be livening up with the warmer weather. Weed is also a problem but if you can find a clear area there is some good sport to be had.
I've not witnessed a single person catch on Pool 1. Was informed all the fish were lost due to the flooding so if that's the case it will be interesting if matches throw up any catches of significance
Not a single fish spotted cruising last week whilst the sun was blazing

Yes, that's what I feared. The otters had obviously done a lot of damage when I fished pool 1 in the early spring of 2020 and while we still caught a few fish, a lot of them had obvious scarring and the bank was covered in scales..
I don't believe the pool flooded last year - although the car park certainly did.
As you say, the match results will be fascinating.
More and more fisheries are putting up fences and no doubt here is a lot of dawn shooting and trapping going on too.
