I used to fish it regularly a few years ago but stopped for the same reason, though I never had any trouble myself, wouldn't feel comfortable there now being quite isolated, I'm not a strong young man anymore. Loved it at the time but went off carp fishing anyway which is the main species there still I assume, nice stretch of river adjacent though. The track down put me off as well, ruts were so deep you almost grounded, perhaps this is better now.
