Yellow Fellow D’anglers,
Having read about a decent catch of Slabs coming out of the Lower Severn at Birds Meadow, I thought that I would try my luck down there, the last time I was there was years ago.

Well the rutted hill down to the field has not changed, but we’ll done to the Fisheries Team for the great work done on the Fishing stages and the stepped banks down to them, a big thumbs up from me.

I fished from Peg 7 using a Cage Feeder with all the usual baits for Bream!
I caught Skimmers and Bream and a lot of Perch but to my surprise and delight I hooked into a fish that I originally thought by the way that it fought may have been a small Barbel!

But to my astonishment I had actually Caught a small Zander of about a pound in weight, but what a Gob on it, full of teeth!

Considering I was fishing with a size 16 hook baited with worms to a 2.5lb hook length and 6 lb mainline, this was the vey first Zander that I have caught in over 64 years of angling!

Keep on Fishing

Well done on getting it out. They normally just bite you off. A member of our club had nine last week in one session at severn stoke.
