This still remains one of my favourite BAA stretches and it's definitely worth the long walk if you're after barbel - today was no exception with three fighting fit fish up to 7lb. Just a couple of thoughts - do anglers fishing for barbel using swim-feeder tactics really need to use bite alarms?

Re: The Trimpley ExperienceI can understand their use in carp fishing but definitely not for river fishing for barbel!

Re: The Trimpley ExperienceTotally agree,I'd much rather watch the tip wrap round than sat behind an alarm.

Re: The Trimpley ExperienceI am of an age to have never appreciated such a device, if I have to use any aid it is a bit of silver paper or a bread bobbin.

Re: The Trimpley ExperienceWhat does continuously feeding your swim mean? Aren't we supposed to just cast out and hope for something to happen, that's what everyone else seems to do
