Hi All.

I've just retired and want to get back on the bank after a 25 year break. I bought a BAA card and headed out for a swim I remember at Ribbesford on the Severn, but the river had changed and the peg didn't exist anymore!

I'd really appreciate anyone kind enough to describe how to find specific pegs that regularly produce bream please?

If there's already a thread on this, please let me know where, otherwise I will create a list here based on my previous knowledge... Best fishes!

AVON
Cropthorn
Peg166 (to the left of the #8 on the BAA map)

SEVERN
Grimley
- 4 pegs up from the car park on meadow 4. Terrible snags though!

hi
pegs at Cropthorn are flyers esp if bit of color and good up stream wind .
around the railway bridge good too if bright conditions as far bank in shade
Pensham down stream very good for bream too.
and good old wood end. and mythe . unless bit of color or overcast / windy i wouldn't bother as gets clear as gin

i dont fish the severn much but birds meadow was always good for a few bream. just finding them .
then as you know Grimley up stream was good on its day .

one last note . i had a red letter day once on the bream out of holt weir
in the fast water after barbel . nothing but beautiful bronze slabs smiling

Hi Moro Ben Keen had a nice catch of Bream from Eckington recently including one over 7lb. You can read about them on the What I Have Caught Forum.

Good shout reg. I'm not much of a bream fisherman, I fish the lower Avon in winter for them sometimes but mainly focus on the preds. A guy told me down myths farm a couple of years ago that Eckington produced the avon match record some years ago, which was a huge bag of bream. He reckoned it is a dead section now, but it either clearly isn't, or it has come.back with a bang.

Hi Mork & FishyChris
The fact that Ben Keen had such quality Bream from his session I would suspect that by fishing for them using a good Bream attractant Groundbait with brown crumb and mashed Sweetcorn and hempseed balled in and then using open end cage feeder to top up and fish dead red and worm hook with worm you should do well.

After a few tip-offs of where to fish (thanks), I went to a BAA venue using a ground bait feeder, 2 pints of casters and worm on the hook.

I had 21 bream in a 5 hour session ranging from 4-7lb (averaging around 5lb), plus 10lb of bits (roach, skimmers & perch).

It's my 1st ever 100lb+ bag of bream (not weighed but conservative estimate).

Sorry - no fancy perfectly lined up photo's. A couple flipped back in the water before taking the photo and I felt terribly bad about all the stress that I was putting the fish under!
