Any recommendations for good fishing on the Worcester canal would be appreciated. Best place/bridge to park and a short'ish walk. TIA, Steve

Re: Canal fishing around Tibberton

Hi Telfish
I have not fished Tibberton but I can recommend the fishing along the Astwood Flights section.
I posted a photo of a nice Bream and a Perch that I had on Sunday 18/10/20 but the Boat Traffic was really heavy and it put the fish down unfortunately.
I did chat to a couple of anglers that have done very well all along from Bridges 38 - 46 these last three seasons catching good bags of Bream, Roach and Perch. There was even a Carp Angler setting up when I packed up who has caught some nice Carp using Boilies.
So the Birmingham- Worcester Canal is a little gem.
Keep fishing.

Thanks for the reply. I remember it from the 80's & now just getting back into coarse fishing.

Cheers,

Years ago, my dad and myself used to fish shernal green, the parking wasn't great so the farmer used to let the baa use one of his fields for parking, I can vaguely remember a donation box in the field for his generosity. Don't know if it's still the case but parking has always been an issue with canal venues.

Hi Stewpar
I fished Hanbury Wharf recently and it is double yellow lines on the road!
So yes the parking adjacent to our Canal fishing is limited to difficult.
So IF the BAA could enquire with local farmers to check the possibility of local parking would be good.

Yeah we used to fish hanbury, parking by the bridge but I guess that's all changed now, it's a shame that the canals aren't more accessible particularly the worc canal.

I fish hanbury whalf a lot and always park on the eagle and sun car park....no walking involved....I did have a chat with the manager of the pub and she was happy to let me park as long as I went in for a drink after I fished ....which in my case is never a problem....and to be fair I normally fish when the pub is closed anyway, it don’t affect the car park as it don’t open till 12 o’clock..and I’ve usually had 5 hours by then and a pint is just what I want......and the fishing is excellent...full of bream and at this time of year eels are a pain but plentiful.......here’s a few examples.....

Hello Bin

Like you I parked on the pub car park back in June and had a nice Bream and some nice Roach on the Bread.

Keep on Fishing.

Same mate ....I plumbed up straight down the track to find the deepest part (about 4 foot) and put in 2 cups of liquidised bread and fished over depth 3 inches with a 5mm punch.....only topped up once after about 2 hours when the bites slowed down......I tried another line hard against the boats but not so good only caught roach .....
