Just got off the phone after having a long and rewarding chat with Mike the bailiff of our upper Severn stretches. Got some great tips and advice on places to try, even offered to meet up and drive me around to show some of the hard to find places on our 14 miles of upper seven water.

Re: Helpful bailiffMy experience too. I met up with Mike a couple of weeks ago and he showed me a round some of the stretches and gave good advice on tactics and approaches. Top bloke and really helpful when tacking a new stretch that is never going be easy. Went a few days later and float fished about 8 different pegs, each one looked incredible "fishy". Had a couple of grayling, but really struggled. Told myself that low, clear river conditions and bright sunlight were the reason. Intend to go back and persevere - something great about catching a few fish from such a stunning looking stretch of wild river. It's about as far removed from muddy carp puddles as you can get.
