So then will we be allowed to fish from Thursday? seems as though Welsh anglers are allowed to fish providing they can walk or cycle to there chosen venue! I'm ok I can walk to the canal in 10minutes from my house.

Re: Lockdown

Hi Stewpar

I'd say yes we can still fish as Wales have their own rules and for England it states

Outdoor exercise and recreation encouraged and is unlimited - only with your household/bubble, on your own or with one other person from a different household (golf is not allowed)

Not sure about the traveling distance though, for me it would make sense to fish in your own postcode area. I live in Wolverhampton so I would fish within the WV postcode area if that makes sense.

Be interesting to hear how everybody else views the rules and what they think they can and can't do

Re: Lockdown

I can understand the point about non essential travel,as you say we should stick to our postcode areas.

I carnt walk to a fishing venue from my house....and I’m guessing I’m not on my own.....but I do live in Birmingham so does that mean I can travel to anywhere with a B postcode .......?...

Re: Lockdown

bin ... the worlds your oyster as they say, we have a B post code and we are 15 miles away. Anyway we could fish in the last lockdown no reason why not now.

Re: Lockdown

I’m going to do the same I think ..unless I’m told I carnt go .....I’ve got a match at eversham on the Avon on Sunday but I’m guessing I’ll get a phone call or email saying it’s cancelled...but I’d still like to go and do a bit of pleasure fishing somewhere...I reall carnt see why or what harm I can do fishing on my own.....but I am a strong believer in the rules are the rules .. it’s not all about me .....so we will just have to wait and see......fingers crossed..

Re: Lockdown

Think its a case of common sense over just keeping to the rules. I would have thought matches might have to be cancelled, given the new guidelines. Any unnecessarily journeys and contacts should be kept to a minimum, otherwise we will be in permanent lockdown until the Spring.

Re: Lockdown

On reading the instructions it seems that if we are in level 3 already, therefore, we must not travel into level 2 areas which effectively means Brummies are stuffed. However, who is going to police this ? The police would have to have roadblocks & they don't have the manpower.I suspect this will be revisited tommorrow & a complete ban will be announced to bring it in line with golf & tennis.I agree I can't see what harm fishing does but the fact is we are traveling & that is against the lockdown rules.

Re: Lockdown

And yet students from the width and breadth of the country can all go to there relative university gather And party as normal, then all travel back home either weekends or for Xmas and spread At will.
And you can go to work if you cant work from home, and send kids to school to mix and carry the so called virus home, oh and its also ok for grandperants ( the elderly and vunerable) to look after those kids too.
Yet its more risky travelling on your own in a car sitting on a river bank with no one around and coming home on your own.
Makes perfect dictatorship sense
