Hi Fellow BAAanglers,

I'm reaching out to you fellow anglers for some information please. I've recently returned to fishing and looking to spread my wings a bit and try more of the waters the BAA has on offer.

I'm thinking of going to Retreat Farm Pools over the next week (not too far to travel from Wolves). Is there good access to the pools? Which pools are recommended (I note that pool 3 is not stocked)? Also, what methods of fishing and baits are recommended?

Any information, advice and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Never fished the place but from what I have seen on the forum parking is good as for fishing I think pool one is the better pool with carp up to about 6lb. hopefully someone who knows more will comment. Good luck let us know how you get on pal ATB Dave

Re: Retreat Farm Pools - Request for info

Hi DavidH & all,

I went to Retreat Farm pools on Friday 10th Sept and fished in pool 2.

There is good access to the pools with ample parking. The 1st thing I noticed though & thought was a bit odd, was that the pools had been banked up - there was a newly created wide earth bank around the pools. There is no grass or weed growth so I assume these are quite recent.

I started to fish and got a small tench on my first catch - this I thought boded well for a good days fishing. I had nothing then except for very small carp - they fit in to the palm of my hand.

Around mid morning flocks of Canada Geese started to land on and to the far side of the pool. I would say about 200 - 300 turned up. Soon after some moved around the pool and started having inter flock squabbles.

As this was causing a big distraction and the fishing was poor I went and fished on the river section but had no luck there. 2 fellow anglers said they had only had 1 x bream between them.

Having since carried out a search on "Retreat Farm" using the search option on this site I've come across a number of posts regards otters, fish lost to flooding, the banking and restocking. I should of done the search before hand.

It looks like a lot has been going on at this fishery so I'll be giving it a miss for sometime or until I hear the fishing has picked up again.
