Hi can anyone remember the river levels being so constantly high for so long, it seems like they have been up for 3 months now not so bad for the barbel but a struggle to get the float rods out

Re: River levels

It does seem that way,we have had to move 4 river matches this year because of it,what’s the betting it will be like this until March the 14th then it will be perfect until it’s low and clear in June!

Re: River levels

Its called '' Global warming '' Better get used to it . Great if you are a Barbel angler .

Perhaps when half of the country is under 5 ft of water ..The penny will finally drop as to what impact us humans are having on the planet .

Re: River levels

My opinion, that I've said on a few forums now, is that we no longer have a spring/summer/autumn/winter in the traditional sense, heavy snowfalls are rare these days, and we don't get that many frosts either. I think we now have a dry season and wet season, like they do in warmer countries.

That is certainly reflected in the river levels anyway.

Interesting thoughts, it does feel like the seasons are changing you can bet we will be asked not to go fishing come June and July because of low oxygen levels it certainly cutting down the fishing season if it stays this way

Just as we speak the upper Severn near where i live is on the rise again, its hard work when the river is up & down all the time, not a lot we can do about it tho, hoping for a drier spell after Xmas

Re: River levels

I think that with all this extra water it might get the barbel feeding well so hopefully a good chance of getting a new pb if we can catch it right
