Re: Rod Rings replacements or Making your own Rods - a local supplierI'm currently building 4 trotting rods. 2 light, a medium and a heavy one. I've had all my stuff from them and also highly recommend them. Hopkins and holloway is the trade side of things, and guides n blanks ks is the public side of things. Same company just different prices I guess. If you want to learn a lot about fishing tackle, these guys will tell you everything you could ever want to know about rods, and you can pop 5 minutes down the road to see Gary mills who will tell you everything you would ever need to know about reels and much more. There's not much he doesn't know

Re: Rod Rings replacements or Making your own Rods - a local supplierThe images you posted Reg, is that the finished whipping or work in progress? You are right regarding a right of passage, my Uncle taught me how to whip guides back in the 60s, and it has helped me out a number of times.

Re: Rod Rings replacements or Making your own Rods - a local supplierYou can't beat the nostalgia of old tackle. Whilst I use the modern stuff most the time, every now and then I get a few old rods and reels out just to have a go. One of my favourites is my dad's old silstar match rod. Whilst the new stuff is undoubtedly lighter and arguably performs better, for me tye older traditional tackle looks a million times better.

Re: Rod Rings replacements or Making your own Rods - a local supplierThanks for the post, I have a set of 13foot Edgar Sealey blue match specials from around 1975 which I love and are in need of new set of rings / eyes. I also have an old Slapton Steel Apollo 2 piece rod I have also used for ledgering which I want to rebuild.
