Just got back from a recce trip to the Severn around Welshpool. Some great looking stretches noted for future days out, spotted a few fish moving when sat watching and will be returning next week with the rods. I cannot thank bailiff Mike Wood enough for the help and information provided to me over the phone whilst I was there, even though he was busy working on the banks. All the swims I looked at were neat and tidy, with good access. It will be a pleasure to fish here so thank you Mike & Ann.

Re: Severn near Welshpool.

I've just started fishing around this area. Pool Quay and Maggin's Bridge. Only had a couple of short sessions after barbel without success although I have seen quite a few barbel whilst walking the banks so I know they are around. I do enjoy my stick float fishing and have had some lovely days trotting. Small chub, dace, grayling, trout, gudgeon, perch and even a baby barbel have kept me busy.
And yes, I agree with you, the bailiff Mike has plenty of time for the members. I text him often asking for advice and he always replies with plenty of tips.
