Haven't been to retreat farm for a few weeks, so I noticed quite a few new signs stating strictly no night fishing "fishery under police surveillance".Sure enough I was asked to leave at 9pm by a polite gentleman presumably the farmer as I wasn't asked to show my membership card.
Has the farmer done this off his own back as I've seen no announcement from the baa, thumbs up from me as it gives at least one of our venues addded security.
More good news noticed massive shoals of tiny tiny carp no bigger than a penny, good news for seasons ahead.

Re: Something new at retreat.

Yes the owner has done this. I met him last Saturday, he arrived just as I was starting to pack up. Says he has trouble with people camping and leaving litter etc. As you say he is a very nice person, I mentioned BAA rules give us until one hour after sunset, he`s not very happy with this and said he would prefer a little earlier, about 9.00 at this time of year (sunset). I also mentioned I am normally last to leave but haven`t seen or had any trouble, I think it`s mainly along the river.
As you have seen there are thousands of small Carp on the surface, I netted some to check as my first thought was - top mouth gudgeon. They are Carp. I have also been having some a few inches long, also a first on pool one, 3 small Tench and a small Chub, all in 45 minutes. Finished with two Carp, one just under 11lb and the other my best to date at 14 1/4lb. (weighed) See photos of small ones.

That's what I first thought about the invasive species, I netted some just to check never seen anything like it, they were like shoals of piranhas going across the surface!

Could do with a few scoops of those carp fry being transferred to pool 2?

Apparently there's no fish in pool 3 either, problem solved!
