Hello fellow dAnglers,
Back in early September there was a post on this Forum by Rivernovice asking to “sign a petition”,

Well I did, as have several others that replied but I see that the post was seen by over 600 anglers.

Now I do not know what the current BAA Membership is but would it not be possible for our Chairman to sign on behalf of ALL of us to try and get this petition in front of the Government, because polluted waterways will be the death of our fishing!

Re: Water Pollution and Water Abstraction - Sign the Petition

Petitions don't work like that sir. No one can legitimately sign a petition on behalf of another.

Hello Mr Williams,
Thank you for your reply to my post.

having seen the very well written article from Griff-Rees-Jones and then Fergeal Sharkey appearing in the recent TV Fishing programme with Mortimore & Whitehouse and then being quoted in the Anglers Mail about their concern for the quality of the Water in our Rivers, I was hoping that you could be quoted in the Angling Press/National Press voicing the concerns of the members of the largest Fishing Association in the UK

Re: Water Pollution and Water Abstraction - MP’s to discuss in Parliament today 13 Jan 2021

Hello Fellow Fisherpeople
Enough Concerned people signed the On-line Petition calling for the MP’s to discuss the considerable threat and damage impacting on Watercourses throughout the UK

I received a notification (see attached) informing me that “This Petition will be discussed in Parliament today Wednesday 13th January 2021”

It will be interesting to learn what the outcome will be!
My only advice is to
Keep on Fishing

Re: Freshwater Fish in ‘catastrophic’ decline due to Water Pollution, Abstraction and Sewage

In today’s news 23/02/2020 almost six months after a post by Rivernovice concerning backing a petition to Parliament about the Poor Quality of our Freshwater River systems Conservation Groups report on a Global Catastrophic decline in freshwater fish.

It has called on the Government to restore freshwater habitats to good health through proper enforcement of existing laws, strengthening protections in the Environment Bill and championing a strong set of global targets for the recovery of nature.

Quote:”Nature is in freefall and the UK is no exception:wildlife struggles to survive, let alone thrive, in our polluted waters,” said the organisation’s chief advisor on freshwater.

Let us hope that the Waters can be improved, so the we can all Keep on Fishing

Re: Water Pollution-BBC Panorama exposes Water Utilities Contempt by Discharging Raw Sewage

Disgraceful what is being done to our watercourses across the length and breadth of our British Isles.
How is our River fishing being impacted by such brazen actions?

Can the President of the Birmingham Anglers Association add his voice by calling for the “Harshest Penalties” being imposed upon these Utilities!

Because we all want to

Keep on Fishing
