Arrived at Cleeve Prior today to find the river up and pushing through. So I opted for a heavy lead and a chunk of Spam for bait. Thought I'd missed my chance when I lost a big fish in a snag, but had another bite about 20mins later and this time landed a cracking 12 pounder. Well 11lb 15oz to be exact.

Dead chuffed to get that after losing the first one. Pic attached.

That's a proper fatty. I'd have a go there myself, but the locals put me off going.

I was a bit wary about going there as I've heard about the 'locals'. But it was fine, completely deserted apart from a couple of dog walkers. And nobody else fishing.

Re: Cleeve Prior Barbel - from a Flooded River

Well Done Meatman,

That is a great looking fish, admire you for venturing out and
Especially in flooded conditions, and with the venue not having the best of reputations!

Happy New Year

Keep on Fishing

Re: Cleeve Prior Barbel

Not quite as big as Meatman’s (at 10lb 1oz) but a very satisfying catch from Cleeve Prior this morning. (07.03.22)

Re: Cleeve Prior Barbel

Beautiful fish mate, there's obviously a few lumps around there. Looks like you were fishing by the car park - same area as me. My fish and the one I lost fought like hell, was literally hanging onto the rod for dear life.

As you've probably seen from other posts on here, there's apparently been issues with travellers around Cleeve Prior which is putting many people off going there.

Must admit I was wary, but it was OK on the day.

Well done, great catch.

Re: Cleeve Prior Barbel - another Stunning Fish - well done mikey387

Well done to you Mikey387

A stunning looking fish that compliments nicely the fish caught recently by Meatman!

We are so fortunate to have some cracking fish in our waters.

Keep on Fishing
