Hi gang
At this time of doom and gloom and little activity on this web site I have decided to share one of my fishing experiences during lock down this time last year.
Following the Angling Trusts guidelines I fished local, which for me was the BAA stretch of the Worcs Stour at Stourton, that way avoiding the crowds of folk exercising on the canal tow path.
Unwilling to click and collect the half pint of maggots required for each trip I tried for several weeks to catch anything above the weir float fishing worm, bread, little strips of meat, hemp and even dried meal worms but all to no avail.
Missing my chub and barbel legering sessions on the Severn I finally resorted to using the same tackle and meat on the weir pool itself, where you need 10lb line because of the snags, and I was hoping to get some interest from the odd chub that Id heard hangs about there but yet again failed on that score too.
I did catch a fish though on my last cast before dark, having reduced the size of meat on the hook to no bigger than a baked bean.
It weighed 2lb 2oz (1 kilogram) and I was chuffed to bits as it was a personal best.
Happy days after all.

Morning Reg
Apologies for the factory settings on my phone's camera failing to capture this wild Brown Trout's beautiful colours at the time and the end result only being the white glare of the flash.
Broke my heart which is why I didn't post it at the time. Lesson learned though.

Good Afternoon Stew,
Thanks for your reply, what a beauty that Trout was!
Your perseverance certainly paid a handsome dividend.
As for Mother Nature, I pity those poor souls in the Severn and Teme Valley’s!!
Methinks the Close Season on those Rivers has just started, as the riverbanks will be deadly for the foreseeable!
Oh well we have plenty of Canal Towpaths to Keep on Fishing from.
