Re: Weed

Read and weep:

http://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm5802/cmselect/cmenvaud/74/re...

For example, Point 21: Data from these monitors has begun to show how raw sewage mixed with rainwater or partially treated sewage is released into rivers hundreds of thousands of times a year.

Re: Weed

The weed was stripped out of the Severn during the huge floods of 2019 - 2020. It has not grown back since.
I believe that the phosphate, herbicide (weed killer, routinely spread on fields in August/Sept to 'speed up ripening of crops') and fertiliser pollution has been the main problem - the river was just about surviving up to 2019. It now no longer has the capacity to regenerate, not helped at all by the insane decision by the government in 2021 to allow sewage discharges throughout the year (and not just in times of high river levels).
The Teme was the dire warning that we have to give our rivers more respect and care - it just took the Severn a little longer to collapse due to its bigger catchment/volume.

Re: Fisheries work

Are the BAA OK with members clearing pegs for themselves on rivers like the Teme?

Re: Electrofishing the Birmingham Worcester canal

Native fish have been removed from the canal. When Diglis was netted the Blackpole section (BAA and WDUAA) was netted at the same time. Were BAA informed? Bream and roach were seen to be removed - no idea where they were taken. Basically fish theft?

Re: River venues car parking

This website says the left bank car park closes at 7pm. Is this right? It means evening fishing is out in the Summer (I can't get down to the river till 6pm).
