Re: Night fishing and bad behavior at Fladbury

So because by their own admission ,They state they have no interest in night fishing and state night fishing should be banned and so the rest of us have to suffer who do have a interest in night fishing ,All because of the views of one person .

Some of the best and well known barbel anglers in the country all fish at night and see no problems when it comes to fish welfare .

The question was asked about toilet arrangments. I think I would assume ,just like the rest of us you do it discretly as possible where ever you are be it Fladbury , Severn Stoke or any other venue you choose to fish . So I am sorry that argument falls flat on its back .

Back in August I was fishing Fladbury in a swim not far from the Nait . I was talking to the bailiff and he went on to tell me .That he actually lived there and was local .

Its a sad fact of life these days what ever has or has not gone on at Fladbury is no different to what occurs any where else .

If you ban night fishing ? What happens in the winter when it gets dark so early late afternoon .
What happens to the guys who work in the week .Guys who have family commitments at the week ends and cant fish weekends . Great if you are retired and dont work and can go any time of the the week and any time of the day .

Barbel fishing has been in decline for years and has nothing to do with night time fishing .
Otters , Water companys discharging sewerage in to rivers , Habitat distruction, The list is endless and to suggest its down to night fishing is rubbish

Ask the question on Barbel Fishing World calling for a total ban on night fishing and see what a responce you get ?

Re: Night fishing and bad behavior at Fladbury

Haddon I think people cant use covid as a reason for not attending the AGM . Pubs,Night clubs and all the shops are open.

As I said earlier all people are interested in is their fishing and not how the BAA runs itself .
The issue of anglers night fishing wont go away any time soon .

With Autumn just around the corner and with it brings the rain . When the rain finally does come and the rivers start to improve . With the nights starting to draw in . Barbel anglers will be moaning about the one hour after sunset rule and moan about having to pack up and leave the river so early in the evening .Some will be bending the rules and staying longer and breaking the rules .

So the problem with night fishing will not go away any time soon .....

Re: Night fishing and bad behavior at Fladbury

I see this years AGM is Thursday November 11th . I wonder how many members will attend and voice their concerns on how the BAA is run ?

Re: Night fishing and bad behavior at Fladbury

I personally think its a problem that will never be resolved , When people knowing that all will happen when they get caught will only be asked to leave .
Whats gone on in the last 18 months have made the problem worse and we will continue to have this same conversation time and time again .

Lets face it I think most members are not bothered by what goes on. As long as they are free to go fishing where and when they like and dont want to get involved with the running of the BAA.

It will be intesting to see come the new year and with memberships due . If the BAA put up the cost of next years membership.

Re: Night fishing and bad behavior at Fladbury

Same old rhetoric from the same old person when I comes to calling for a ban on night fishing.
As Stew pointed out even if you ban night fishing. You will still have guys who think that its fine to night fish and show a complete disregard for the rules ,Knowing all that will happen if they get caught, They will be asked to leave . The same happens with guys with no membership card who get caught.

I think I am right in suggesting that many of the guys who night fish on the rivers are barbel anglers
and most are responsible and trust worthy when it comes to their night time fishing.

The problem comes when a few idiots spoil it for every one else. Do people really believe that banning night fishing at Fladbury will solve the problem as Neil as stated . My short answer to that will be no . It has not solved the problem at other venues where night fishing is not allowed as Stew has all ready stated . You will allways get a few that will chance there luck ,Knowing that if they get caught ,All that will happen is They will be asked to leave .
