Re: Upper Severn barbel

I know of several 14lb fish that have come out around the CREW GREEN / LLANDRINIO area, so 15lb fish are a real possibility.
I've seen 4 huge fish together at POOL QUAY which at fist I thought were salmon but were defiantly barbel. Was hard to judge size but I'd say each fish was over 12lb

Re: Trotting at Pool Quay produces 5lb Chub for Bryan Moore

Cheers Reg
Yep, some lovely fish around there. I actually feel that a static bait, I was using breadflake, would have produced a few more fish. I felt they didn't really want to chase a moving bait on the day. But hey ho, was still happy with the few I had

Re: Handsacre

To be honest I think the whole feedback of information on this forum is poor compared to other club websites. Have no idea why that is but you only have to look at the topics posted, the number of views for those topic and the number of replies. The only time there is any kind of "discussion" is when people are arguing

Re: Hunt for a grayling

I agree with what Fishychris has just said, I fish the Severn around Welshpool a lot and there are lots of grayling to be had. Unfortunately the big fish of 2lb or more are hard to find but lots of fish up to 1lb on trotting tactics. If you find some fish try trotting a small worm, often picks out a better stamp. Looking downstream from Maggins bridge you'll see a fast pacey shallow run, right under an overhanging tree. its about 2.5 foot deep and lots of streamer weed. My go to first choice when I'm trotting. Expect dace, small chub and trout also.
Also, if you want to go further upstream towards Newtown try the waters at Aberbachan

Re: no fishing on baa water!

I know the length of canal well and fish it regular during the autumn and winter when the boat traffic has died down. Its a great part of the West Midlands canal system, even if access is a bit limited with some good walks between access points.
"why do we rent water with no fishing because of power lines"?..............because its only a couple of hundred yard stretch on a length of water probably 7 or 8 miles long. and probably comes as a package.
Bit of common sense here.
