Re: Early season Bream

Cheers Bin, i know Grimley used to hold Bream, but wasnt sure about Retreat Farm, it does look the part but have fished it twice last year, first time i fished the hemp and tare and the lad went for the Bream, he didnt find any and fished it again with about 6ft on thinking they may show, but again no Bream, admittedly it was later in the year. Be nice to think they where there as i do like the place for some reason ( not sure why), but theres a couple of places i like for no apparent reason lol.
Got plenty of groundbait left from last years Ireland trip, how about the Avon around Chadbury, i have caught them there but only with about two foot of water on,

Early season Bream

Morning all,
Could anyone advise on a good starting point for a chance of some early season river Bream.
Thanks in advance.

Re: BAA Canals

The canal in Oldbury is on the junction of Oldbury rd and Albion rd, park on the factory unit right on the canal, walk over the bridge and turn left, go under the two bridges and anywhere there, it is featureless up there. Its strange because you walk passed the first stretch which is reed lined and that is full of tiny roach, but walk just under the two bridges and between the bridge and the next set of reeds is where they are, i think there must be a pipe carrying water between factories at one stage under the canal, if you look at the area closely and that feature must hold them.
There is a to path both sides, the one on the side where you park is nice and smooth for bikes etc..,
The one the other side is natural so you get no bikes or walkers, thats why i walked the dog that side

Re: BAA Canals

Thanks all.
Mike i too have had plenty of canal carp over about 5 years but on my local canals around Oldbury that stopped about 4 years ago when my dog died, ( not that he used to take me lol), but i used to walk him every night along the canal and drop a handful of corn and a few micros into a few swims over about 2 months, then started to go down as you say with a small 2bb waggler set up and 8lb maxima straight through to a 12, two pieces of corn and would have a couple a night from 2lb to the biggest i had at 19lb but most ranged 2 to 8lb great fun on a shallow canal when they can only run longways. They are still there plentyful but need to prebait over a few weeks and without the dog i dont go.
