Stacklands -Wye

Got out to Stacklands on Saturday but the river was wild so I was struggling to stick anything, no barbel but a couple of bait pulls on the meat. Stretch looked lovely though grin

Also the BAA access gate into the field and up to the hut was locked meaning I had to carry my gear over the gate and a long way. I didn’t go light neither as I read you can park pretty close! Anyone else had this problem recently? There wasn’t any livestock in the fields and the ground was pretty dry, can’t see a reason for the Farmer to block access currently.

Was having a pretty unlucky day as I slipped over a couple times and my catapult snapped covering me in meaty ground-bait. By 5 I put the barbel rods away and was ready to go home... longest blank streak in my life! However chucked out a lure into a couple of the slacks before admitting defeat and thought I got snagged on something. Eventually pulled this big croc head up to the surface. Only a PB pike, chuffed!!

Other question is where does the forum get my account picture from?

Cheers

Hello all!

I have recently joined after getting back into fishing from a few years off so thought I’d introduce myself. I’m Tom, 25 and moved to the area from Norfolk so the rivers are very different round here! Live in South Wales now but work all over Worcestershire so get around a lot, which is why in my first year I’m gonna try fish as many BAA waters as possible. I’ll keep a journal but won’t be publishing many details on the public forum so drop me a message if you want to know how I’m getting on, happy to share!

I’ve fished preds since I was a teen and dabbled in carp and tiddlers for 15+ years but would really love to get into barbel sport. Beautiful fish and what better place to take it up. I’ll still be fishing a mix of methods through the year but any advice is always appreciated.

Tight lines,

T
