Re: Droitwich Spa AC contest at Hinksford on Sunday 24th March 2024

Hi Swainy,
Thank you for taking the time to post your results, and almost 17lb of fish from six of your d’anglers is a fair return in my opinion. And 52 Gudgeon in a session is more than I have caught in the past 20 years, they are becoming scarce, when once they were very prolific.

Stew1955 makes a good point in his post, at the end of the day you were on the Waterside and my sign off to that is

Re: To celebrate the 1st anniversary of BAA Forum D'Angling

Hi Stew1955,
Fancy you remembering that auspicious day and celebrating with that nice catch of fish!

I have just read Ollie’s, Halesowen RBL Match on the B-W Canal at Hanbury, your catch exceeded their Top 5 total.

Yes indeed Stew, we owe our good friend and d’angler Carlingford59 Keith, a big thank you for bringing together and forming our b.a.a. forum d’anglers AC.

In getting to know all of our members since having to take over from Keith, that it has become clearly apparent we have all regained something of the magic of fishing, and also having an opportunity to meet up occasionally and form a friendship with another lone d’angler.

When you consider how that COVID Lockdown impacted on ALL OF US, what Carlingford59 Keith did by forming this club was unimaginable it has helped all of regain some form of sanity in an evermore changing world!

d’angling on the side of a Canal, Pool or River has brought together a lovely bunch of blokes that are happy to get on the bankside and after the contest have a bit of banter and some liquid refreshment in a local hostelry, five or six times a year.

Thanks Stew for the reminder, thanks Keith for forming the club and to the Meatman get well soon

To the rest of you d’anglers just

Re: Halesowen RBL match on the B'ham / Worcs canal at Hanbury 24/03/24

Blimey Ollie,
A bit like after the Lord Mayors Show, after your results from Stewpony!

Thank you for posting these hard caught results, the frustrating thing is you know how well this stretch of canal can produce!

Oh well the Eagle and Sun is a nice place to talk about the ones that got away, or just did not turn up.

Re: Cradley Heath Labour AC club match result. Staffs / Worcs canal at Stewponey. 17/03/24

Thank you Ollie for taking the time to post these excellent catch weights, 58 pounds of fish is a cracking result, and as Stew1955 mentioned a lovely pub to to retire to after the event to talk about the one that got away.

Re: COPPICE LAKE

Stew
You crack me up with your very astute observations.

This really does raise some serious issues concerning the “Extreme Carpers”.

My experience when meeting with them at the waterside is the total opposite of meeting with a d’angler!

Carpers are ONLY focused on CARP, to the exclusion of all other fish.

It has amazed me when those Carpers that DO want to talk with me, actually tell me that they have been pestered by Bream or Tench, and that those fish were of Several pounds in weight!

Having myself, fished for and caught double figure Carp, on Fly, Float and Legered Hair Rig bait, they do put up a hell of a fight.

At the end of the day we are all descendants of Izaak Walton, The Compleat Angler!

Izaak loved his fishing and all fishes, and he encouraged all men to take up a rod and relax on a riverbank.

So to all Carpers, chill out, love all that you catch and most of all

Keep on Fishing….
