Re: The River Tame - Witton - 1918 a pristine River

Ki Ken,
I am really pleased to learn that.

I know that out towards Tamworth there is some good fishing to be had, let us hope that the river can keep on improving, until it can be fished throughout its length.

Keep on Fishing…

The Lock Inn at Wolverley back in the day?

Hello Fellow d’anglers,
I have attached a photo of the Lock Inn at Wolverley that was taken before 1948.

The Staffordshire - Worcester Canal was the inspiration of the great Canal Cutter, James Brindley,

It opened in 1771 taking the Coals and Manufacturers Produce from the Black Country and the Carpets from Kidderminster to a purpose built Port where it joined the River Severn at
Stourport-On-Severn

Re: The water pollution cover up ?

What is that saying “Foxes in charge of the Chicken Coop”
As for Water Utilities
it should be “The Sh””s taking the P””s

The Government’s of ALL Colours have been complicit in overseeing the discharging of UNTREATED EFFLUENTS Into watercourses and into the Seas around Britain!

The Government can’t be sure how many people are in Britain, the one thing that we all need to do is to visit the Toilets and to use water.

The Panorama program alerted us to the fact that they have NO clear definition on the word
“EXCEPTIONAL”
This is worrying because the Water Utilities ARE ALLOWED TO DISCHARGE UNTREATED EFFLUENTS due to Exceptional Weather?

The Panorama documentary had untreated effluent taken from a Sewage Works outfall into a stream analysed in a laboratory for Paracetamol - the Scientist stated that the analysis detected Concentrations of 22 different Pharmaceuticals among which were Antibiotics, Antidepressants, Type 2 Diabetes medications, and lord knows how much Illegal Drugs were also present!

Water Utilities have been “Fully Compliant with their Permit Conditions”
Water Utilities are Rewarded for the Quality of its Treated Effluent”

The Water Utilities get to write their own reports, the EA don’t make enough visits to the existing Sewage Works!

There needs to be an immediate increase in the size of the existing Sewage Works and there needs to lord knows how many NEW SEWAGE WORKS Built!

The public need to know the
1). Permit Conditions for Sewage Works
2). The Definition for EXCEPTIONAL WEATHER
3). The Water Utility should be rewarded on the Quality of its DISCHARGED EFFLUENT and its Clean Water Quality
4). Absolutely NO SOLIDS DISCHARGING
5). Absolutely NO DRUG Residues being discharged

The ECO WOKES are going barmy to stop the burning of fossil fuels

But surely this issue of EFFLUENT DISCHARGE is even worse.

Re: Ashwood SW canal winter Chub

Well done Stew,
That is a marvellous bag of Chub and bits that would have smashed our Contests.

It is a true testimony to your proven method and skill of fishing on the Staffy.
Thanks for sharing.

Keep on Fishing….

The River Tame - Witton - 1918 a pristine River

Hello Fellow d’anglers,
Just look at the attached photo that was taken in 1918 of the River Tame in Witton, with the Yew Tree Pub seen on the right hand side of the river on the Brookvale Road.

Back in 1967, when I moved with my parents to live in Kingstanding, an elderly neighbour told me that as a boy he used to catch Trout from the River Tame!

Thanks to very lax monitoring of Sewage Discharges

If you were to fall in the River Tame now in Witton, you might catch Cholera.
