Re: Apperley Pools

Fished recently, caught nothing, but it was cold and I was after carp. Access good, car park good on the hard standing but vey wet on the field.

Re: BAA membership prices

I for one would be happy to pay another £10/year. Most small clubs are significantly more expensive, for a lot less fishing. The BAA represents great value for money at present, but even at £50 it would still be cheap for the amount of access. If the extra funds could be put towards protection from resurging pressure from Otters on the lakes, that would be money well spent. IMO.

Re: Retreat Farm Otters christmas dinner

Popped over to retreat on sat 9th for an hour, didn't fish as the pond (1) was iced over, but found yet another fish I estimate to have been 8 - 10lbs half eaten. Otters ? Mink ? which ever, it will be interesting to see how many fish are left after the winter.
BAA HQ is aware because I have correspondence from HQ about my initial post.
Is the land owner aware ?
Is it cheaper to re-stock than fence the pool ?

It's a waist of good fish and fishing.

Re: Lockdown.

Tippers, sadly common sense is no longer taught in schools, colleges and universities. It has clearly not been instilled in our elected leadership... We can walk down the river bank or canal tow path ( from home) we can even cycle down it if there is a permissible right of way, but we're sadly not allowed to sit still on the river bank ( even if we can walk there ).
Surely it is far more dangerous the cycle ( protected only by lycra shorts and a polystrene hat ) down a public highway, than it is to fish.

Re: Retreat Farm Otters christmas dinner

Branchie, not a bad experience, just sad really that highly prized fish go relatively un-protected.
