Me too. I have fished plenty of puddles, but since I have returned to the bank I have had no desire to visit them. Can't beat trotting on moving water for me. Couple of pints of maggots and a bag of hemp.......cheap day out and great fun.

Great to hear guys and I'm glad that I'm not the only one. That sounds like me Mick.....I have used a big avon stick every time that I've been out this season. I couldn't bear the thought of fishing a pellet feeder all day, and whilst I understand that everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, I just worry that so many are missing out on some great sport. I have been delighted with the amount of so-called 'bits' that have been about in the rivers so far this season. At Ladyham I caught dace all day long.......no more than a few ounces each but I was shattered at the end of the day. I guess if everyone else are just chasing the barbel then it leaves more for us to catch.

Not a problem....I am glad to hear that I'm not the only one looking. Unfortunately I worry that we may be chasing a lost cause because I don't think there are many of us

Does anyone know if any open matches are run on rivers in the midlands anymore? BAA water or otherwise?

I just wondered if anyone still fishes the stick float on rivers anymore. I am never happier than standing in the water and trotting a stick but the only time I hear rivers mentioned these days is for barbel fishing. I have had 4 days off work so far this season and I have been to Manor Farm, Barton, Ladyham and Hansacre. All for stick float fishing and all great fun. After fishing for 15 years I have recently had to have 3 years off. These 4 trips have been wonderful and I couldn't be happier.
