Re: Uckinghall Lake - 26th Jan

I was able to get onto the fishery today for a couple of hours spinning .
I didn't get a single take sad
The water was pretty clear, and access to swims is excellent.

Uckinghall Lake - 26th Jan

Has anyone visited the Lake in the last couple of days ?
The road from the last house to the BAA parking was flooded, as were the surrounding fields, when I visited.

Re: QUESTION: Mythe Farm - river access time restricitons ?

Hi Folk,

Really useful feedback - thank you.

I didn't realise the website 'where to fish section' would contain more specific navigation info than the 'Guide to Waters booklet.'

The more accurate Post Code for that venue & even better, What Three Words, would clearly have got me there.

I'm off to have a session at Mythe Farm later this week then.

Regards

Paul

QUESTION: Mythe Farm - river access time restricitons ?

Hi,

As a recent new BAA member I decided to visit Mythe Farm today for the first time, to check out this stretch of the Avon. Sun was up at 04:50 so I arrived at 05:15. There was a locked electronic security gate in place & no obvious way of drawing anyone's attention to request access ?

I'm pretty sure I was at the right place, as I had gone past the Wood End road sign, & the Mythe Farm, (& Business Centre) road came up next ,complete with its cattle grid.

I'm guessing the gate provides security for their business Centre, but time restricted access isn't called out in the BAA booklet, and there wasn't any information on that gate ?
I'd be concerned to find the reverse situation in an evening, when you are leaving as the sun goes down; to find they had locked you in, with no way of contacting anyone !

The Mythe Farm entrance, (rather then the Wood End road) looked far more suitable for access with a family saloon, & appeared to also have a much better road surface, hence its selection.

In the end I drove off to walk the Eckington Bridge stretch of the Avon; & managed to find a couple of accessible swims, (I've earmarked for another time) whilst I got a couple of hours spinning in there.

Are there any other stretches of the Avon that aren't 'really' operating a sun rise to sunset policy ?

QUESTION: River Severn - Severn Stoke, Bushley,Ripple, Apperley - Swim acessability

Hi,

I'm recently retired & a pal & I are new BAA members.
Just prior to the close season, we went to Ripple for a days fishing.
We walked the entire stretch first, and mindful that I have arthritis, I struggled to find a swim where I felt, I could safely get in, set up, and get out.

Before we head off to venues next week; if you are familiar with Ripple, I'd appreciate an idea if I will similarly struggle getting into swims at Severn Stoke, Bushley, or Apperley ?

We did take a look at Mythe pool on the bailiffs advice, & that IS a water we will be fishing !

Regards

Paul
