Re: Bailiffs?

The AGM is one night in a year which the majority get at least 12 months notice of.Is that not enough notice to attend something that will probably last a couple of hours tops?Potentially future AGM’s will be around different locations in the future so let’s see how many turn up to them!My guess is probably the same dismal turn out and the same moaning will carry on.I’m sorry but the club shouldn’t have to coax members to come to this with the promise of a buffet and a free pint.If you care enough to make a difference then people would be there. As some do,travelling from as far as North Wales and up from Tewkesbury.

Chris is right there are two bailiff meetings a year and they are held at different venues. Also why would having a DBS check be an issue if it was a requirement?Despite the rotation of venues I’d say about a quarter of the total number of bailiffs come to these for various reasons.Difference is they don’t start whingeing about how things should be done on the internet.

Re: Bailiffs?

Rivernovice…the problem is everyone has these great ideas about how the club and bailiffs should do this and that on forums and social media but how many actually get off their arse from behind their keyboard and do something about it?The turn out for the AGM is pathetic every year considering how many members there are.If you want change then join the committee, join the bailiff teams, join the fisheries team. There are plenty of opportunities there to put your ideas across. The bailiffing figures have increased massively in the last few years but there’s always room for more improvements

Re: What is happening to Apley?

Unfortunately it’s not as simple as just putting one of our locks on.The farmer obviously doesn’t want this as people will be driving across his field where he has livestock.I have never known that gate to be open and have always had to climb over the gate.Another problem is the gate being left open which I have come across on other fisheries with our locks on.With it being so close to the road it would be absolute carnage if the sheep all got out there.

I agree it’s not ideal though and maybe another stile might help but there are other fisheries with good access and behind your peg parking on BAA waters to try in the meantime.

I fished it a couple of weeks ago and two chaps had been fishing the feeder all day and not caught.I fished the same peg after they had packed up and had 25lb+ of Chub and Barbel fishing the stick float. With the levels so low the fish are easily spooked by a big feeder or lead crashing in so sometimes it’s not because the fishing is crap it’s just a change of method that’s the key

Re: Bailiffs?

Spot on again Chris. As you know there are plenty of checks going on,on a regular basis and at all hours of the day and night. What are bailiffs expected to do when things like this aren’t reported properly and instead are put forward on a forum in the form of another whinge, way after the incident has happened?Would you wait a week or so to ring the police or maybe email them if you witnessed a burglary or someone’s car getting broke into?
