Cradley Heath Labour AC match at Apley 06/08/23

A depleted turnout due to holidays etc, but as it turned out the lads not there didn't miss much. The stretch fished really poor for some reason and nobody had a barbel.

1st Stewart Mulheron 5 - 14 - 0 ( Stewart had most of his fish on pellet and feeder, these being roach, dace and small chub )

2nd Sean Waite 4 - 7 - 0

3rd Brian Smith 3 - 5 - 0

4th Lawrie Mulheron 3 - 4 - 0

Re: Paddle boarders

I've known for some years ( referring to the CRT website ) that all craft on the waters mentioned need a licence. When we had matches, club, opens or welfare events on the middle Severn during the 80's and 90's we knew what time the organised canoes would come past. At Knowle Sands it would be around 11.15 am then Quatford around 11.30, Hampton Loade just before 12.00. After they had passed there were no more during the match. These days it seems continuous with at least three organised canoe parties mixed in with individual canoes, kayaks, paddle boarders and so called " wild swimmers " Of course, you're trying to cast in and catch fish amongst all this.
So this is from past experience to the present from a matchmans point of view, so I'm with Reg on this one and I have to be more aware as to what time of year we book river matches these days.

Halesowen RBL match at Ripple 16/07/23

With a blustery wind and showers it was always going to be a feeder approach today.
All weights were achieved using a ground bait feeder resulting in mainly bream, skimmers and a few bits of roach and perch.

1st Lawrie Mulheron 33 - 0 - 0

2nd Andy Sloan 19 - 8 - 0

3rd Sean Waite 18 - 10 - 0

4th Geoff Garrish 16 - 14 - 0

5th Stewart Mulheron 16 - 0 - 0

Cradley Heath Labour AC match at Birds Meadow 9/7/23

Typical of a bream venue when it's either " feast or famine " this was the case today when some caught and some struggled. All the leading weights were bream caught on ground bait feeder.

1st Sean Waite 45 - 12 - 0

2nd Garry Mason 27 - 0 - 0

3rd Phil Cooper 11 - 7 - 0

4th Lawrie Mulheron 7 - 6 - 0

5th Andy Sloan 6 - 9 - 0

Re: River Avon 16th June?

Oxfordblue, just to warn you that this time of year and especially in a heatwave, the swimmers, paddle boarders and canoeists love Bidford and Marlcliff at weekends.
