Re: Pershore RB

Thanks for the replies guys. Will give it a go and report back. Might wait though for a bit of rain first.

Pershore RB

Looking for any information on Pershore RB, downstream of road bridge. Have walked it a few times, but very low and clear. Initial thoughts is that it looks good for the stick float or light feeder, but unsure of main species or best tactics. Any information on this area gratefully received.

Stourport / Newhall Meadows

Like many others, I fish Stourport regularly over the winter months for the roach fishing. Just wondered if anyone fishes there in summer and if so, what the fishing is like. Never seen anyone feeder fishing there, looks like it might be good for a few bream? Will go and give it a try once we have had some rain and a flush through. Just wondered if anyone out there had any experience of summer fishing in the area.

Re: River Wye Pollution - TV News 21/10/21

It's not just about the welfare and health of our fish. Like a lot of river anglers I like to wade and get into the river. Who knows what viruses and bacteria end up on our hands and gear. Then wipe your eyes, blow your nose, eat a sandwich and you could be in trouble. i lost all of August to a really bad eye infection / viral conjunctivitis which required three trips to an eye hospital. Have no proof that it was caused through fishing, but certainly a possibility. Stay say guys and take the hand sanitiser.

Barbel Fishing in Extreme Temperatures

There are large numbers of anglers taking advantage of the current weather to get out on the bank and judging by the number of feeder rods pointing skywards, many are targeting barbel. My view is that responsible anglers should avoid fishing for barbel in this extreme heat. There are a number of EA reports coming through of dead barbel below Shrewsbury and it would be naive to think that there will be no casualties on the middle Severn. I know many anglers take fish care seriously, but there is still a sizeable minority who will still insist on carrying the fish up the bank to be weighed and prodded and posed with for for the obligatory photo or six. Putting barbel in keep nets in this weather is of course lunacy. It is well documented that barbel stocks on our rivers seem in decline and we are quick to blame pollution, the EA, otters, poachers etc, but sometimes we as anglers need to do our bit and apply some common sense.
