Re: Roach fishing - Staffs-Worcs Canal

I personally think that the fish feel most comfortable in the deepest water particularly in winter if the water is cold and clear, successful canal matchanglers will probably fish 5 or 6 different lines during a match

Re: Roach fishing - Staffs-Worcs Canal

Hi stew,in my experience the deepest water is probably going to be at 4-5metres rather than up the far shelf where you’re going to struggle for depth, I’d tend to stick with the deepest part for all my winter fishing

Re: Middle Severn Barbel Behaviour

I guess it the same principle as the commercial carp attracted to the sound of a pole smashing the water ringing the dinner bell?

Re: Working parties - Ribbesford Bottom

I'm guessing not many fancy the walk to the bottom meadow with the attraction of blackstone and parking by your peg!
When my dad took me in the 80s he would park on the road and you were able to walk down the bank to the river, last time I looked there was no obvious place to park your car so the long walk is the only option I guess
