Re: Retreat Farm Otters christmas dinner

Sorry to hear about your bad experience at retreat farm.Ive never fished there but you have and had some nice fish out.The only way to protect these fish is to fence all the pools off.It seems madness to me to require these pools and stock the pools with fish only to see them eaten by otters. We can't do anything about the otters but we can do something about protecting the fish in these pools.

Re: River Trent .

I remember many years ago, probably in the early 90s I was a member of the DAA which went bump and now is derby railway. That stretch of the Trent was fantastic fishing but as all we all know river fishing has gone downhill everywhere.Maybe instead of looking elsewhere for stretches on other waters. We should be looking after what we have already.

Tree down at knolwe sands

Fishing at knolwe sands last weekend, I noticed that a peg just before the wooded area starts. A tree that had fallen in making the peg unfishable, the tree isn't that big so should be easily removed.

Re: Catching much?

With the number of barbel falling over a number of years on the Severn.I think it's not just one problem affecting barbel population but a number of problems. And what ever they are they won't be fixed easily all not at all.But let's see if fishing improves later in the year.

Re: Catching much?

Your right about the chub getting more of a look in at the moment.I hope it changes with more barbel numbers in the Severn.I am worried because i to remember those days when the fishing was a lot better, the Severn is a pleasure to fish and I've seen anglers with the Trent on there doorstep and come and fish the Severn.Hopefully it will get back to somewhere near it use to be.
