Has anyone seen this quantity of fry else where ?? I haven`t. Another group of fish which hasn`t been mentioned on here was the appearance of a load about 10 inches long. This was last July/August (may have been the year before, I haven`t got my diary at the moment). Went at the end of August and caught 42 fish, 35 as mentioned, 7 bigger ones, at the time they were about 7lb. All the same size, appeared to be straight from a fish farm, all fin perfect and easy to catch, in fact a nuisance !! Fished floating bread to get away from them. Others I have seen at the pool have mentioned these. Went again a few weeks later and had just 1 of these plus a few bigger ones. Phoned BAA for info on these. No useful comments. - "You know as much as me" "You know the pools have been drained" "They are still there, you aren`t catching them as it`s colder" (I was in just a shirt it was that warm). So who put them in and who took them out ?? Been suggested by one I spoke to they had been stocked into the wrong pool and later reclaimed. Same question for the re appearing fry. Any ideas on the disappearing / re appearing fish. Be interesting to see if the fry remain here and start getting caught when a bit bigger !! Retreat Farm Continued From April (KenL) Went for what I intended to be my last visit here. (Pool 1) Did better than my previous two trips, didn`t have a bite as before but I did see some fish !!. Total of 8 or 9, all good size, cruising around. Couple of points, the pool is now very weedy, every cast I would hook a strand or two growing up from the bottom, not showing at the surface, even in the deeper parts. Found a small area, close in, where I could fish fairly comfortably. Other minor problem, which I would have expected to be announced, is the work going on to increase the height of the embankment. Around half has been done, work finishes at about 4.30. Pool 2 very weedy. Couple more turned up but did not fish. Still don`t go along with the flooding theory, the river heights don`t back it up. Went to Retreat Tuesday, 7 others there when I arrived. 4 on pool 1, 3 on pool 2. Not a bite between us. Heard of small ones on 2 but I have tried 3 times since the re opening, nothing.
