Re: Anybody else being catching?

I had one on Sunday, 10.4 from the Middle, but the Lower Severn has kicked me squarely in the nuts my last two visits.

Re: Ticket, Hampton Loade, LB

It's always been a bit of a mystery there with that car park. I believe sunset was always the time the NT used to lock the car park up, but the NT always used to decide what time sunset each day.

A shame really, as it's a nice stretch, in winter especially.

Re: Barbel

Your best bet would be a Middle Severn stretch, of which there are lots to choose from, they all have shallow and deep runs, and some are more popular than others. Some have short walks, ie/ Apley, Danery, Coombys, Arley, Blackstone. Some have longer walks, Knowle Sands (nice stretch), Trimpley.

As already stated, above 7c is better, but they can still be caught at a lower temp, especially a rising one. Next week is cooling off again, so it might be tricky.

Re: Salford priors track

Don't think I'd chance it Rog, in anything other than a 4x4. Might not be TOO bad at the moment though for winter, given it hasn't rained for a month or so. River in a state though, low/clear.

Re: Severn Stoke

Dave - go up. There's more flow close in upstream than there is downstream, and the bank is more accessible on the rock area as you mentioned. Downstream you need to cast further out to reach the flow, and the trees may make casting tricky, especially using deep float rigs that you need. There are pegs where you can get down quite close to the river, the best one being the swim on the outflow gate, the bank has a more gradual decline there, and isn't a sheer drop, so quite safe, and there's a lovely flow right under your rod tip. Take a rope yes, but also a spade, to remove mud and flatten a bit of bank off to fish from.

The member that went in the river was chasing a known big fish from the car park swim. That swim gets hammered, and there is no vegetation whatsoever on it, so that didn't help his cause.Take a look, and you'll see what i mean.

Good luck,
JC.
