Re: PARKING HAMPTON LOADE LEFT BANK

it is the National Trust yes, I believe they stripped a lot of villages of their idiots to gather the staff to secure the car parks etc. I don't think I'd park my car there, I heard that the gates are locked at dusk, but they actually decide when dusk is.

Regarding the fishing, I've heard (on reasonably good authority), that the meadow below the spinney, above the pipe over the river, does contain some very big barbel. It's relatively underfished on the BAA side, but plenty of bait goes in the area, mainly due to the caravan site brigade on the Unicorn stretch, making the barbel nice and fat by the wintertime.

Re: What actually are the rules ?

Brilliant post Lee, spot on mate. I've brought this up on some of the Facebook forums before, saying that barbel anglers are a huge chunk of the membership. Club matches on rivers now are very few indeed, back in 80's and early 90's prior to tame carp holes, most of the top river venues would be booked week in, week out. Not any more. You can fish some stretches now and not see anyone else all day.

I do feel the the BAA still thinks it's 1985 sometimes, but that said £40 is still a fantastic bargain, it's a shame the BAA committee don't take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

Re: Uckinghall

I fished it when it was BAA donkeys years ago. It was on a match, and was up a few feet, so was moaning then (it was before I morphed into a barbel angler). If only it was like that now. Might give it another try next month tho, rain permitting....I'm always up for a bit of lower severn action.......or more usually in my case...blanks.

Re: Uckinghall

As far as the bit of river behind the pool, it used to be BAA I believe, may have changed? However the EA 'free' stretch is there and waiting.

I remember it being BAA, certainly was in the 80's in my early fishing days, I'm told that the Maddocks fish was from there (16-3?), back in the 90's, might be wrong though. Wouldn't mind having another bash it though, with my barbel rods.....once it rains of course, whenever that is.
