Re: How about a Tackle-tip section?

Sounds a reasonable idea to me. Anyone can put a good idea on here now of course. I have fished on and off for 70 years but still pick up the odd tip now and then that makes life easier. Newcomers to fishing may well benefit. You're never too old to learn. Loads of stuff on YouTube though.

Re: Canals during close season

OneMoreCast. One or two boats about stirring things up. I was at Shernal. I fish the canal now and then but can't say I have ever found it clear. Have had some quite reasonable days at times.

Re: Canals during close season

Fished the canal last Friday, first time out for 6 months and never had a bite, That's fishing for you. :

Re: A new underwater feature on Stubbs Pool

A favourite spot of mine once, but like others have been put off by various comments, a good stretch of river as well (which I prefer to pools), Had my first ever barbel out of there, 10lb to the ounce and still my best, and several carp in the twenties from the pool. A shame as it is not far from my home. Never mind, plenty of other places. Re the photo, can't remember it being that deep.

Re: CLOSE SEASON

I'm all for no close season, I doubt if it makes any difference to fish stocks, welfare or anything else. I fish the Avon, always week days, rarely do I see more than two or three other anglers, sometimes It's just me, usually it is just me in the colder months. There are thousands of fish in the river, a tiny proportion are caught. Just guessing of course but I would think 75% of the river rarely if ever sees a rod, purely because of access. I think those that are so concerned for the fish should question whether they should fish at all, a size 6 hook yanked into your lip feels the same all year round ? For most fish anglers are a lunch ticket. My point is the small number of fish caught does not justify a close season. Just saying.
