POACHERS FINED & BANNED FOR LIFE

Pair caught illegally taking fish fined

‘Two men found by BAA bailiffs to be illegally taking eels, chub and perch from the Warwickshire Avon at Pershore last summer, were fined a total of nearly £900 including costs when they appeared at Redditch Magistrates court recently.  BAA club bailiffs, a member of the Angling Trust Voluntary Bailiff Service and local police officers responded to the incident and the evidence was used by the Environment Agency to prosecute the men. Superintendent Bailiff Kevin Pearson, who is also Regional Enforcement Support Manager for the Angling Trust says “this was an excellent example of our volunteers reporting the incident,  accurately recording the evidence and working with the authorities to achieve a positive result”

The two men concerned, Mr Rafal Szalczewski and Mr Krzysztof Budzynski have since been banned from re-joining the BAA’ for life.
