Mike and Ann Wood Fishing Report Upper Severn Powys

Moving forward in to May with water levels still dropping of from end of April it is now extremely low for May  and below normal level for Aberbechan Penarth Abermule Forden with levels at Aberbechan Penarth down to 0.182 this is below normal level for this location. Making any type of fishing very hard ,Anglers have been turning out in good numbers trying to fish some of the deeper glydes and channels with a lot of the fish dropping down in to these areas there has been some very nice Brown Trout caught on fly up to the 1lb mark along with grayling and chub to 4lb its good to see so many new members coming to Aberbachan from the Midlands and also local young  new members very encouraging and they were not disappointed spinning for trout and catching his first ever brown trout followed by a pike well done Devon pictures on website . Forden again has been fishing very well with lots of brown trout, sea trout, and chub being caught on the fly to say the water levels are so low the game fishing has been very good . Dom Danks another young new member who has been coming up to Forden and Aberbechan the last few weeks has been doing very well with nice brown trout and grayling to the 1lb mark its a pleasure to see the new young members coming up and enjoying some good sport on the Upper Severn . So with the river being so low and very hard to fish its been good to see our anglers still catching and having some good sport .With the course season only two weeks away i just hope we can get some extra water on the river so tight lines everyone for the new course season keep safe all the best Mike and Ann Upper Severn area bailiffs.
