Decided to fish the same peg on Friday so up nice and early and landed my 1st barbel at 06:15 similar in size. Nice hot day and the fish went to sleep until 18:00 when I landed 4 chub within an hour around 2lb a piece. Plenty of fish on the stick with Perch to a pound and Roach to 8oz. Fladbury pike
Fished a very cold and windy Fladbury on Tuesday 16th Jan. The banks were still very muddy with silt on the platforms, the river came up 2” during the session and over the platforms. Spud took this old girl tight to the bank with an old frozen dace that’s been in and out of the freezer a few times, She weighed in at 14 1/2lb, needless to say I blanked! Colin Townsend.

Fishing the stick float and using just half a pint of bronze maggots and a little hemp, he has put eight cracking chub into his net going to an estimated 12lb overall. Andy said he had pulled out of a number of big chub during the day but only got bust up on two. Picture from Colin Townsend (bailiff)

Whats being caught here - early 2017
Hi. I did a bailiff visit to Fladbury today just as member Martin Branch was landing this hard fighting 5lb Avon barbel. Although there was a lot of water on and it was pulling through, this was the 3rd one Martin had hooked although he had lost one. I have also attached a picture of his very simple rig using big cubes of curry flavoured luncheon meat anchored down with a 4 oz lead. Colin Townsend.

Winter Fladbury barbel
Took a walk along an up and coloured Avon at Fladbury today, it was at 1.48mt and falling, but I did meet two intrepid anglers fishing from the top of the bank after the barbel. As I was talking to member Simon Ivey, he sprang up and grabbed his rod, (I didn’t even see the bite). After a bit of a scrap he landed this estimated 4 lb Fladbury barbel. Simon was using double 14mil Severn Vally Ambush pellet. Colin Townend
