Hi all. I'm thinking of joining a BAA affiliated club. Where can I find the list of BAA clubs please?
I have found this linkhttp://www.baa.uk.com/baa/clubs/...
but don't know how to find the list of existing clubs that are open to new members joining?

Hi Monk there used to be a list of club names but I have not seen that for a long time now. Best thing to do which I did a while back was put a request for clubs on the match results page and wait and see who responds. A lot of clubs will have booked there matches for this coming year so might not have availability.

I joined a great friendly little club last year Walsall and District A.S. we fish 4 rivers 3 canals and 3 pools but we are now full for this year but will take on a 2-3 more members next year. If you are interested pal or want anymore information please follow our page on face book and get in touch. The club also owns 4 miles of canal just outside Litchfield. Kings Bromley Handsacre area on the Trent and Mersey canal with some great fishing

All the best Dave

Just a thought but if a club is affiliated to BAA, then BAA must have a record of such clubs. Surely in response to a legitimate BAA member query a copy could either be passed on or to save admin resource it could be part of BAA website or am I missing something here?

Thanks for the suggestion Dave. I'm over in south Birmingham (opposite side to Lichfield).

Mr Chub... I completely agree and don't think that you are missing anything. Your logic is the same as mine and exactly why I was asking where to find the list.

The BAA must have a list of clubs and all their details. I would have thought it logical that each of those clubs would be asked if they are happy to be included on a published website list with a contact method. eg; facebook, website, number, email, address, etc...

I naively assumed that such a list would be on this website and I just didn't know where to find it.

No wonder that BAA clubs have dwindled over the years... no one knows how to find and join one!

I’m pretty sure if you asked the office they could provide you a list of affiliated clubs. But I know a lot of them don’t have websites or Facebook pages so you can’t just post the secretary’s personal details on a public forum or website.

As for the dwindling numbers in affiliated clubs it has absolutely nothing to do with a list not being on here.I fish in two affiliated clubs and have done for the last 20 years and been in and around the club match scene as a kid.The decline is down to a few things.Firstly a lot of the Labour, social or working mens clubs don’t exist anymore and have declined rapidly over the last 20 years. These were places where people would meet up and join fishing clubs.Another is there simply isn’t any younger anglers coming through any more. The ones that do don’t want to match fish they want to sit in the bivvies and go down the specimen side of fishing.

Although big river matches are coming back a bit now they aren’t at local club level.I bet the average age of most of the people in the affiliated clubs is 60+
