Re: Raw Meat

There is nothing in the rules to say you can’t.All I would say is don’t pile loads in if you’re fishing a pool.

Yes you can use raw meat on BAA venues .. but I'm confused on why you would want too ???
I'm always willing to learn a tip or 3........ what river was you thinking and what fish would you be targeting ...

Re: Raw Meat

Twenty odd years ago there was an angler who used to fish the top section of the LAA/bottom of the BAA at Wasperton every Monday. He regularly fished small pieces of steak on the hook,on the stick and fed small balls of mince. It was a very successful method for Chub at the time with the odd Roach caught. He even caught a Little Grebe one day when I was sat with him, fairly(unfairly?) hooked in the beak.
Never tried it myself as maggots or casters produced the same results given the vast Chub stocks at the time. Now though,it may be worth a try to winkle out the odd big 'un.
Keep it on ice though if it's hot and sunny, the health risk from handling raw meat going rancid in the heat should be taken into account.

Re: Raw Meat

Dont mind sharing at all mate, fishing the Warks Avon i often fish luncheon meat but i took some of my dogs raw meat with me on my clubs last match(to offer something different) at Barton and had a decent day with the raw meat probably outscoring anything else(tiny pieces on an 18 hook).
After the match was told i should,nt be using it on BAA water.......Mr Williams tells me different.smiling

Re: Raw Meat

Well there you go .. if John Williams says its ok then that's all you need to know..
fair play to you for trying it and i hope it brings you a few fish in the future.
A couple of years ago during lockdown me and my lad went to the local lake to fish and he went to Greggs on the way ..well to cut a long story short he battered me on the day with skimmers that he swears to this day he caught on sausage meat which he got from Gregg's sausage rolls..
i believe him..
good luck to ya....
please keep us updated on your achievement's
