Re: Severn

where about did you park ? this is a fantastic winter venue thou iv not been since
the BAA have sorted the tress and had big clean up (last year i think)
still the amount we pay for what we have is unbelievable !
40 quid for miles and miles of rivers. some over grown. some with platforms, some with out. lots with nice clean pegs etc.
try finding another club with same amount of water for that price !

Re: Severn

If you fished the first peg by the towing club then half way up then that’s not even BAA water! Our stretch doesn’t start until you get past the rugby pitch where there is the usual big yellow sign telling you where the stretch starts/ends.Why is there such a negative attitude towards the BAA all the time? Why do you have the attitude that everything should be done for you because you pay a very reasonable 40 pound a year?Maybe take a bit of time to cut your own peg out or give the fisheries team a call and give them a hand one day?
I will be going down there out of my own time to tidy up some of the pegs, with other members that volunteer their time to help maintain our fisheries.

Re: Severn

There were loads of pegs cut out in the close season,a tree surgeon spent two weeks with his lads down there also and I’ve been down there to see it and yes there may have been a bit of growth down there since then but nothing I would describe anywhere near unfishable.
Next time you’re going to start criticising the BAA maybe actually check you’re on our waters? The stretch you are referring to is free water at the moment so maybe get onto the council or something to cut you some pegs out?

Re: Severn

Yes but you wasn’t even on our stretch at Stourport! The pegs you have described are on the free water, ours starts past the rugby pitch where there’s a yellow sign clearly stating this and I know for a fact there are loads of pegs cut out there!

If you look at the photo in the where to fish guide it shows you where the first peg is.Opposite where the Stour comes in upstream of the Rugby pitch.

Re: Severn

Don't give up on Newhalls as Stuart says check out the map you just need to walk down the river a little further. I fished this stretch the week end with my 11 year old son. We ain't no experts we swim feed ground bait and red maggots and had several nice bream, roach and some very large perch.

The more members that use this stretch.will help keep the shrubs at bay, there are some really nice pegs that are open and accessible. I often walk down this stretch of river and make an effort to trample some of the weeds down to keep pegs open. smiling
