Re: Tench

In my opinion Mythe is the best, but I've found early morning or evening sessions by far the most productive. To the point I wouldn't bother fishing there for tench during the main part of the day, when I've tried it I've not been able to buy a bite. There's also a lot of bream in Mythe, so expect a few of them too.

I've had tench at Uckinghall throughout the day, but not loads, just the odd one or two. And probably wouldn't bother daytime if it's going to be bright sunshine and hot.

As for Apperly, I've heard that pool 1 is the best for tench, but I've tried it a couple of times and not done any good. Also fished pool 2 but only caught roach and perch along with the occasional bream.

All 3 are fairly natural venues and not necessarily easy. Though catch Mythe on the right day and you can get some decent bags - especially of bream.

Good luck if you get out mate, let us know how you get on. Much as I'm itching to go, I might wait a few days for the 'rush' to die down.

Re: Tench

Thanks Meatman. We are going to try Apperly on Saturday as I've a feeling it may be less busy than the other two, or at least hope so

Re: Tench

fished the big pool at Apperley. No tench or even signs of them but had two decent bream on the float, plus Roach, Rudd, Perch and a Chublet!
