On my daily run / exercise passed opposite Trimpley. Left bank still fenced off from Arley down to Northwood and revetment / rock wall being engineered as part of river bank reinforcement, all along Trimpley stretch. Looks like it will have a major visual impact. Just wondered if anyone has further information of this engineering work or any idea of timescales of when this work may be completed - does not look like anytime soon? A further unrelated question - despite hot sunny weather, saw no evidence of fish or spawning, whole river appeared pretty lifeless. Wondered if anyone has seen any fish about or witnessed any spawning on middle Severn yet?

Re: TrimpleyMy mate is a bailiff around the Bridgenorth area and he has posted videos on his Facebook of barbell spawning last week during the warmer periods. Said they were showing signs of spawning for 4 consecutive days.

Re: TrimpleyTrimpley has always been a beautiful stretch and it sounds as if the Environment (Vandalism) Agency are in the process of turning it into an eyesore, much as they have with parts of the KDAA water downstream.

Re: TrimpleyThis work is more likely to be Severn-Trent who own the reservoir and water treatment works and the outfall into the river from the works. Probably they are worried that the winter floods have eroded the banks and might destabilise their structures. Not sure where this has happened recently on KDAA, there is some rock revetment on the right bank just below Dowles Brook but this again was installed to protect the footpath and field against further erosion after the 2007 floods (not sure who did it)

Re: TrimpleyThe work going on at Trimpley is to stop the bank erosion because they were worried about the reservoir bursting its banks if it carried on,although it’s of no benefit to us fishing it’s essential work, imagine if it was left and the land gave way and the reservoir burst it’s banks?

Re: TrimpleyThe work was supposed to have started in September 2019 and then was due to finish Jan 2020. The winter floods put paid to that. It would, however, been a far better plan to plant a thin strip of trees some 5 - 10m back from the water's edge to provide long lasting bank stability.

Re: TrimpleyBut the EA have only just finished ripping the trees out to ensure that the flow of floodwater is not impeded....

Re: TrimpleyAny chance of the BAA asking that the fencing be removed as there is no chance of doing the work in the forseable future?

Re: TrimpleyFencing gone but all too late ... rush job done, bankside ruined, total eyesore. A shameful example of complete and utter disregard for our countryside.
